Tanzy's Tips for Summer

Dr. Bloss and Tanzy

Time to update ya on what's happening in our neck of the woods.
Summer brought us more mange than we've seen in the past few years.  Our doctors have seen many  patients who are itching like crazy--way more than with their regular allergies.  This horrible little parasite (sarcoptes) is probably being spread by foxes--one who lives by us has no hair on his tail and just looks mangy!  Symptoms are EXTREME itching, hair loss, and redness of your skin.  It's pretty easy to treat so be sure to get checked if you think anyone in your house has a problem.  It is contagious and humans even get bites sometimes--so get checked out if you're itchy!

On a serious note, you need to be aware of the dangers of coyotes.  There are many coyotes that live in Bear Creek Park and this year they seem to be especially aggressive.  Two families have lost pets to coyotes while the pets were in their yard.  Please pass the word to not go out alone--always have your human go with ya to be sure you're safe.

Take care and enjoy leaf peeing.
